| December 8, 2015

These are the basic instructions for the paper:
By the end of the semester, you will have produced a research paper on a philosophical topic directly related to this course. In order to help you with that process, you will required to produce a number of shorter components to the paper independently including a draft of the complete paper. You will also be required to meet with me from time-to-time throughout the semester to discuss your progress. Overall, your term paper for this course will be graded by how well it meets the following requirements: 1. A clearly stated thesis. (20%) 2. A clear account of a position and/or argument from one of the course readings. (20%) 3. A clear account of a position and/or argument from an article or book directly related to one of the course readings (and approved by the instructor). (20%) 4. At least one clearly identifiable argument in support of the thesis. (40%)
Here is my thesis statement:
Wittgenstein’s philosophy showed Hauerwas that philosophy was not primarily about theories but is therapeutic and that the a theologian’s work should be rooted in the grammar of the language used by believers.
